Singled Out Club/Camp Sign-Up Night!!

We opened the doors early to over 100 students who signed up for camp!! Just a few spots left for the best week of our lives at Frontier Ranch, CO this summer!!

Two McKinney YL students graciously volunteered to join us for our version of the old MTV hit game show, "singled out". The clubhouse erupted watching girls 'kung-fu fighting' and singing "I'm a little teapot" with marshmallow filled mouths and guys guessing break-dancing and singing old love ballads.

At the end of the night, the winners were chosen and got to go out on a date immediately after club with the Mckinney students to...McDonalds!...being videoed the entire time!

Come back Monday to see the video and to save your spot for camp!!

PS. Our Flower Sale Camp Fundraiser has begun! For more info, email allenyounglife@gmail.com or call Chris T. at 214-364-5800!!

CRUNK CLUB!!

We relayed with pots, pans and wooden spoons to "name that hip-hop/rap song". We made marshmallow goo and candy grills. We had a 'old school' dance off with our leaders. Everyone dressed up in their best crunkalicious gear!

It was awesome (and hilarious) and the night was wrapped up with Michelle (leader) sharing her story through a video. She showed us that God can use our 'mess' and turn it into His 'message'!

CLUB 2/2/09

Club was awesome last night! A room full of students split into teams for the balloon stomp game (note to self: water bombs are extremely difficult to blow up!) then watched as six volunteers bashed "whats under the box?" with a baseball bat. Little did they know Phatt Matt was wearing a helmet under the 4th box! Their reactions were hilarious, but the greatest was from the crowd when the last player swung his hardest knocking the helmet from the table as red jelly erupted from under the tablecloth! (The helmet was no longer filled with Matt, but a soccer ball! HA!)

We then watched a video from 'the Hills' of Allen as two girls' drama unfolded about signing up for camp. We sang songs as the whole group locked arms and swayed right and left. We heard Chris T.'s famous song he wrote, "The Eagle Song" (wwwrrrrraaaaak!) and heard "Boom - Roasted" throughout the night! Then we watched an 'iamsecond' video of Josh Hamilton - amazing. We introduced our leaders to the room and listened to C-Rex tell us more about life's adventure with Christ.

It seriously is the "Best Hour of the Week" every week!! Be there next week for

1st Club of 2009!

We met this past Monday night at the Harvest Clubhouse with almost 150 students and almost 20 leaders! Our 'Dallas-style snowball fight' was a huge success, even with the added twist of the soggy and sometimes rock-hard flour bombs. It was hilarious!
Next we had 6 volunteer girls set to walk across our 'hermit crab walk' (15 hermit crabs on a sheet). We brought them in one by one, blindfolded, for the task. What they didn't know is that the hermit crabs were switched with fortune cookies! It was hilarious to see their reaction as the whole club roared and laughed at each "crunch"!
We saw a video about all the insane fun that will take place at Frontier Ranch this summer and of course enjoyed the music from the band.

Chris T. talked about only having one shot at life, and how to make it an adventure. Ford Tikson and Shelby Turner talked about their amazing experiences at camp.
It was awesome! What a great way to get the semester started!!

Mr. Christmas Tree Pageant

The 2nd Annual Mr. Christmas Tree Pageant was December 8th at the Allen Library Auditorium. "Mr. and Mrs. Claus" (aka. Randi and Matt Wideman) and their arsenal of silly Christmas jokes entertained us all evening as they introduced the contestants for each of the pageant categories. Ben Holtz, Stacy Gallimore and Login McAllister made us laugh and had us on our feet singing beloved Christmas carols. The contestants, Tim Levesque (9th), Evan Waring (10th), Ford Tikson (11th) and Alan Bjerke (12th) gave us a hilarious take on the all the hype that goes with a traditional beauty pageant, beginning with Ford's interview question being word for word of the famed "such as" speech of Miss South Carolina, followed by Evan's lyrical dance in tights using pom-batons, Alan's hilarious hip-hop routine, and Tim's cat-walk-esqe presentation in a mini skirt, bikini top, wig and shades for the swimsuit portion. All contestants lugged huge lit and decorated Christmas trees attached to themselves across the stage for the final vote. In the end, Ford Tikson won the 'Mr. Christmas Tree' sash and $100 off his camp fee, which he donated to be used for another student who needed it more. How awesome is that!

The night wrapped with Chris Trevathan giving a talk to sum up the last semester's clubs, what he's talked about over that past few months and he introduced cardboard testimonies presented by some of our own YL students and leaders. Watch below:
